Used Juniper M-Series Multiservice Edge Routers
The
M-series multiservice edge routers include the following platforms:
M7i, M10i, M40e, M120, and M320. All of these routers deliver
advanced IP/MPLS services. The services include: real-time voice and
video, security, bandwidth on demand, multicast of premium content,
IPv6 services, accounting, and more. These multiservice edge routers
are used for small and medium cores, peering, route reflector,
multicast, mobile and data center applications. The M7i and M10i are
used for large enterprises as Internet gateway routers, WAN routers,
campus core routers, and regional backbone and data centers. Any one
of these routers provide ATM, Frame Relay, Ethernet, TDM, and speed
from DS0 to OC-192/STM-64 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Redundant power
and cooling is on all five platforms; and redundant hardware (such
as Routing Engines and Switching/Forwarding Engine boards) are
on the M10i, M40e, M120, and M320.
Forwarding and Switch Interface Boards:
M7i Router
-
Compact Forwarding Engine Board, most
compact routing platform,
-
Supports 7 + Gbps throughput,
hardware-accelerated NAT, stateful firewall, IPSec, and J-Flow
accounting,
-
Designed for small Point of Presence (POPs),
Internet gateways, branch aggregation, or campus boarder router,
-
Supports either 2 fixed FE ports, 2 fixed
Gig Ethernet ports, or 1 fixed Gigabit Ethernet port, and 4
ejector-enabled Platform for Internet Content Selection (PICs),
-
Supports interface speeds up to OC-12c/STM-4
and Gigabit Ethernet.
M10i Router
-
Compact Forwarding Engine Board, most
compact routing platform and cost-effective,
-
Redundant Routing Engines, Compact
Forwarding Engine Boards, fan trays, and power supplies,
-
Designed for small and medium POPs,
-
Supports 8 ejector-enabled PICs, and
interface speeds up to OC-12/STM-4 and Gigabit Ethernet.
M40e Router
-
Switching and Forwarding Module, highly
redundant platform,
-
Designed for medium and large POPs,
-
Supports 40 + Gbps, 32 ejector-enabled PICs
up to OC-48/STM-16 uplink speeds,
-
Common hardware redundancy (such as switch
fabrics, Routing engines, fan trays, and power supplies).
M120 Router
-
Supports 128 Gigabit Ethernet subscriber
ports, with 10 Gigabit Ethernet or OC 192 uplink capabilities,
superior redundancy,
-
Provides service aggregation for multiplay
needs for service providers and enterprise users,
-
Supports MPLS services at Layers 2 and 3,
and Layer 3 VPNs,
-
Supports legacy Frame Relay and ATM traffic
over high-bandwidth Ethernet links.
M320 Router
-
Switch Interface Board for Interconnecting
FPCs, high performance, distributed architecture edge router,
-
Redundancy of switching fabric and Routing
Engine, field replaceable components,
-
Designed for medium-size backbone cores,
-
Supports 10-Gigabit POPs and 32 1 and type 2
PICs and up to 16 type-3 PICs for 10 Gbps uplinks,
-
10 Gbps-capable,
-
16 OC-192c/STM-64 PICs per chassis and up to
64 OC-48c/STM-16 ports per chassis,
-
320 Gbps throughput.
